The African University of Communications and Business (AUCB) held a pivotal gathering in its auditorium on Wednesday afternoon, bringing together class and course representatives, their deputies, and university officials to reactivate the Student Congress and inaugurate a new Interim Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Executive Committee.

The meeting, convened at 3 p.m., was chaired by Dr. Coleman, Director of Student Affairs, and supported by lecturer Mr. Peter Wonders and former SRC President and teaching assistant Mr. Ernest Kpebu. Their roles were mandated by the AUCB statutes and approved by university management after the previous interim SRC’s tenure expired and elections could not be held within the stipulated timeframe.

During the session, several key appointments were formalised. Mr. Adu Darlington took the Judicial Oath and assumed the role of Chief Justice of the Judicial Council. Mr. Prince Kweku Boateng was sworn in as Speaker, while Mr. Evans Annan Acquah became Deputy Speaker. Ms. Sophie and Ms. Audrey Vansford‑Nunoo were inaugurated as Clerks, each taking the Oath of Member of Congress.

The newly sworn‑in Interim SRC Executive Committee, having taken the Oath of Allegiance and the appropriate executive oaths as outlined in the SRC Constitution, comprises:

Mr. Richard Okyere – President

Mr. Jeffery Mensah – Vice President

Ms. Deborah Titus‑Glover – General Secretary

Mr. Richard Ninson – Financial Secretary*

Ms. Barbara Kafui – Communications Officer

Ms. Bismark Appiah Kafui – Organizing Secretary

Ms. Rabab Iddi – Welfare Officer

In his inaugural address, President Richard Okyere pledged to amplify student voices and address collective concerns. “We are committed to working tirelessly to ensure that the voices of all students are heard, and that our collective concerns are addressed,” he said. “Let us work together to create a university community that is inclusive, supportive, and empowering. Let us strive for excellence in all that we do, and let us make our university proud.”

The Interim SRC Executive Committee has been tasked with managing all SRC affairs in accordance with the SRC Constitution until elections are held, organising elections before the end of the second semester of the 2025‑2026 academic year, and transferring all SRC documents, financial records and assets to the newly elected executive.

University officials expressed confidence that the reactivated Congress and the interim leadership will foster a vibrant student governance environment at AUCB. The event marked a successful re‑establishment of the SRC and set the stage for upcoming elections aimed at further strengthening student representation
