African University of Communications & Business School of Research & Graduate Studies student Moses Apiah, also a journalist with A1 Radio in Bolgatanga and a correspondent for Class FM in Accra, has been honored as the ‘Best Health Reporter of the Year’ and ‘Best Climate Change Reporter of the Year’ at the 4th Upper East Regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards. The recognition reaffirms his position as one of the region’s most dedicated and socially conscious journalists.
Apiah’s double victory highlights his unwavering commitment to using journalism as a tool for advocacy and positive change, particularly in rural communities where access to reliable information can directly impact livelihoods and public welfare.
His works on health and environmental issues have brought to light how vulnerable populations are adapting to the harsh effects of climate change while navigating persistent healthcare challenges.

Reflecting on the recognition, Apiah acknowledged the growing challenges confronting journalists in Ghana and emphasized the significance of local journalism in driving social transformation.
“Winning these categories implies that at the rural level, we can still make a difference. As journalists, let’s always strive to make that difference,” Apiah said.
The awards underscore his continuous dedication to impactful storytelling and community-centered reporting.
