Nikolette Samonas is a talented Ghanaian-Greek actress, TV host, and humanitarian. Born to a Ghanaian mother and a Greek father, her diverse background has influenced her creative journey, a journey marked by resilience and determination, which now serves as an inspiration to many. Her commitment to her craft and her humanitarian work continues to make a positive impact. The Ama Ata Aidoo Centre was honoured by her presence – a courtesy call that became a moment of reflection for many students.
When Nikolette – aka Nikki Samonas – takes on roles inspired by true stories, they don’t just end when the director yells “cut”. She admits these roles have transformed how she looks at people. Every character teaches her a lesson; every life she portrays changes how she interprets humanity. For her, acting is not just about performance – it’s about understanding the human spirit in its rawest form.
Nikki believes her career is no accident. “It’s part of my destiny to be in acting,” she says with conviction. The path was laid out for her, and every role, every stage, every screen is proof that she is walking in purpose. Yet, her journey has not been without caution. “One thing I’ve learned is don’t trust people so easily,” she reflects, highlighting how the industry – and life – has taught her to be wise about the company she keeps.
Beyond the screen, Nikki carries a bigger mission. She feels a deep responsibility to put Ghana on the map – whether at the UN or in her everyday life. “I am Ghanaian, and that identity will always be part of what I represent,” she says with pride.
To her, acting is not just personal ambition, but also cultural representation. Through it all, one word sums up Nikki’s drive: focus. Despite challenges, distractions, or setbacks, she emphasizes on staying centred and determined. For Nikki, focus isn’t just advice – it’s the anchor that keeps her grounded in her destiny.

Speaking at the Ama Ata Aidoo Centre Stage at the African University of Communications and Business (AUCB) on September 30, 2025, Nikki Samonas addressed various topics, from her early days as a model to her current success as an actress and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador.
Embracing Destiny
When asked about her realization that acting was more than just a hobby, Nikki revealed, “I actually had all those thoughts and I actually even branched out sometime but they pulled me back in again and when I went to share my thoughts, I realized that I had to be there, I can’t run away from it. It’s part of my destiny, so I’m still there.”
Lessons from Acting
Nikki shared that one unexpected lesson she’s learned from acting is to be cautious when trusting people. “Don’t trust people,” she advised, emphasizing the importance of using one’s judgment. “You have to know when to trust fully and when not to trust fully… Just be careful and extremely cautious. It’s a very tough industry.”
Representing Ghanaian Culture
As a Ghanaian actress with a global audience, Nikki feels a sense of responsibility to represent her culture. “I feel it’s my responsibility to represent Ghana every aspect of my life whether it’s related to the UN or not. Because whether I like it or not, I am…a Ghanaian.”

Focus and Independence
Offering advice to young people, Nikki emphasized the importance of focus. “When I was in KNUST, I didn’t have time for boyfriends. And even when I did, I didn’t take Ghana boyfriends, personally I’m saying. I went outside, because I don’t want that societal tagging.”
Nikki Samonas’ visit to the Ama Ata Aidoo Centre was more than a celebrity appearance – it was a masterclass in purpose, resilience, and cultural pride. Through her journey in acting, modeling, and humanitarian work, she demonstrates that talent paired with focus and self-awareness can inspire not just audiences but the next generation of Ghanaian creatives. Her story reminds us that embracing destiny, staying cautious yet courageous, and representing one’s culture are keys to leaving a meaningful mark on the world.
